Even if you’re not into outdoor snow sports, you’ll find yourself happy in the Swiss ski village of Verbier, and even happier at this modern and upscale take on the traditional ski lodging. Experimental Chalet is brought to you by the Parisian Experimental Group, originally known for their boutique cocktail clubs, bars, and restaurants in Paris and London––and now taking full on the hospitality scene in destinations around the world such as New York, Menorca, Venice, and Ibiza. As expected this experimental hotel is on point with style, service, food, drink, and hip scene.
The Hotel
While most hotels and lodges in the area go for the standard design approach, the Group pulled in Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi to create a modern, jewel-toned environment that’s light on the eyes and bold on the soul. The key is that the design remains authentically Swiss, but feels at once minimal and warm––different from anything else you may find on an Alpine getaway. You can book a lovely double occupancy room, or if you’re feeling fancy, why not go for a suite with a jacuzzi on your terrace, overlooking Mount Combin.
Food and Drink
Verbier is a lovely place to visit. That said, you may not want to leave the Experimental Chalet once you’ve finished your skiing and exploring for the day. The Chalet restaurant serves sustainably sourced farm-to-table fare, by the Parisian chef Gregory Marchand. It’s a fresh take on authentic mountain food that will surely warm your belly. Every Experimental hotel has a cocktail bar, pouring world-class beverages…this being their roots and all. You’ll find this on the first floor. If you’re feeling more lively, you’ve got an upscale discoteque––Farm-Club––in the basement, where you will find a good balance of locals and visitors.
Relax
The Experimental Group introduced its first spa here at Experimental Chalet. Located on the first floor, guests have access to spa treatments, hamam, jacuzzi, and solarium. The Group teamed up with skin care brand, Biologique Recherche, to provide cosmetic and skin treatments using only biotechnical and/or natural ingredients––hold the perfumes, please.
The Area
You can do all the things here that you can imagine in any world-famous ski resorts, and amp it up a bit. There’s nothing quite like skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, skydiving, etc., with views to the magnificent Matterhorn. In Verbier, you’ve got easy access to the network of lifts and slopes that makes up the Quatre Vallées. But don’t count out this adorable Swiss village when its devoid of snow. Verbier is just as pretty in the summer and with over 800km of bike tracks and 500km of walking trails, you will for sure have your breath taken more than once (from the views as well as the workout).
