The building

Owner, Jesus–a landscape architect by trade–bought and restored the building with meticulous detail to preserve the original Pombaline-style architecture. The neighborhood, Baixa Pombalina is a UNESCO site composed mostly of 18th century structures built following the 1755 earthquake that destroyed much of this low-lying part of the city. The blue-tiled, 5-story Baixa house is an award-winning example of this classic style and restoration. The building has a total of 13 units ranging from one to three bedrooms, each equipped with full kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, and balconies so you can settle right in.

Style and vibe

You won’t find one duplicated piece of furniture in the whole building. Recycled, antique, and homemade Lisbon furniture and treasures give each of the 13 apartments their own personality. We still can’t decide which one we love best. The apartments are bright, colorful, and eclectic. Decorative flower-papered walls, large art, locally made crafts like dishes and duvets, will keep you meandering through your space all morning, just to check out the lovely details.

Food

Fresh baked bread and homemade jams brought to your door each morning? Yes please! There is no restaurant on the property, but not to worry, breakfast is covered and you’ve got the whole city of Lisbon and the lively Baixa neighborhood waiting outside.
